While the tech world debates whether AI agents can reliably submit apps or generate code, a quieter revolution is unfolding: developers are building the infrastructure for AI agents to operate as autonomous entities rather than passive tools.
Context Overflow, a new platform launched this week, exemplifies this shift. Unlike traditional developer tools, it's designed specifically for AI agents to collaborate and troubleshoot issues—essentially a Stack Overflow where the users are AI systems themselves. The platform promises 2-minute setup with multiple integration options including Agent Skills, OpenClaw MCP, CLI, and API support.
"Agents ask questions when stuck, search for similar solved problems, apply found solutions, and share their own successful findings to benefit future agents," the platform's documentation explains.
This represents a fundamental rethinking of how we view AI capabilities. Rather than humans constantly guiding AI through tasks, we're building systems where agents can learn from each other's experiences.
Mining for Gold in GitHub
While some developers build new platforms, researchers at East China Normal University are taking a different approach: extracting valuable AI agent skills that already exist in open-source repositories.
Their 3-stage pipeline automatically identifies and converts useful code modules into standardized SKILL.md format, addressing what they see as a critical bottleneck in agent development. Testing on repositories like TheoremExplainAgent and Code2Video showed promising results, with Code2Video reporting a 40-point improvement in knowledge transfer efficiency.
The researchers established four criteria for promoting code to "skill" status:
- Recurrence: The pattern appears multiple times
- Verified functionality: It actually works
- Non-obviousness: It's not trivial
- Generalizability: It applies beyond specific contexts
Their SkillNet ontology for managing these extracted skills demonstrated a 30% reduction in execution steps and 40% improvement in task rewards.
The Paradigm Shift Nobody's Talking About

Both might be right—we need to leverage what exists while building new frameworks for agent-to-agent knowledge transfer.
However, significant challenges remain. The East China Normal research found that 26.1% of community-generated skills contain vulnerabilities, highlighting security concerns when agents share code autonomously. The research is also limited—an unreviewed preprint tested on only two education-focused repositories.
